Atlantic School’s Superintendent Steve Barber….
Atlantic School’s Superintendent Steve Barber says the goal is for students to do a lot of the construction work with the help of experts in the construction field. Dexter Dodson, High School Industrial Technology Teacher, will general the project.
From Snyder and Associates, Engineer Dave Sturm presented a cost estimate for the building, electrical, grading, mechanical, and concrete at an estimated cost of $104,000. In addition to that, Eric Miller, Middle School/High School Ag and Industrial Teacher applied and received an $8,000 grant from Farm Credit Services.
The school board also approved the list of teachers for an educational advance indicated in the Master Contract. The total dollar amount, plus the cost of FICA and IPERS, is $21,400. Ten teachers qualified for the salary increases. Dara Bartz, $3,200, Matthew Best, $1,700, Sarah Dorsey, $3,200, Michelle Fritz, $1,300, Stacy Johnson, $1,900, Cayleigh McBee, $1,300, Mary McBride, $1,300, Caroline Madsen, $4,500, Leah O’Donnell, $1,500, and Steffani Tarrell, $1,500.
The School Board also followed Superintendent Barber’s recommendation and approved a $2500 stipend for Dexter Dodson for wearing multiple hats and responsibilities that didn’t exist with teaching in the classroom. This year, the district expectation is the same with several additional community projects and to build a house—next year.
The School Board also approved the JT Custom Baling’s bid for snow removal for $75.00 per hour and $110.00 per hour.
