(Des Moines) The National Weather Service is forecasting thunderstorms to develop over western Iowa late this afternoon. Forecasters say the storms are expected to sweep across the area overnight. A few severe storms are possible, with the primary threat being large hail, and damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes.
Additional storms are expected Sunday evening into Sunday night. A few of these storms may be strong to severe. Periodic chances for storms continue into next week, but the threat of severe weather remains uncertain through that period.
The main threat of severe weather is between 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.
