(Harlan) Thanks to a Tier One Water Warning being in place for the last several months, Harlan Municipal Utilities has made it through a peak demand season without any significant disruptions.
An evaluation will take place next week, followed by a recommendation on how proceed. “Whether to continue with the water watch or to return basically to normal with an ongoing request to conserve where they can. So we’ve gotten though the worst of the summer and were able to hold our own. So it’s looking pretty good so far.”
HMU CEO Ken Weber reports good news in terms of long term improvements. “Completed all the survey, environmental, and geo tech work on the well field expansion project. We’ve just received drawings for the new piping of the well fields. Making progress on that. We’ve got the engineering portion all provisioned for financing and we’re close to closing the preliminary documents for USDA funding for the rest of the project.”
When asked about the evaluations set to take place next week, Weber stated ‘It’s looking promising.’
