(Atlantic) One person suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident on the east edge of Atlantic.
Atlantic Police Lt. Devin Hogue says the accident happened at around 2:37 p.m. on Wednesday, on Highway 71 near the east entrance to Walmart.
“A gold Chevy Malibu traveling southbound on Highway 71 collided with an eastbound 2019 Nissan Ultima leaving the east entrance of Walmart and attempting to turn north,” said Hogue. “Both vehicles collided at the intersection. The impact caused the Malibu to collide with the main building in the cemetery. The Nissan came to rest in the middle of the Highway.”
Hogue says Cass EMS transported the driver of the Malibu to CCMH with non-life-threatening injuries. Officer’s cited the driver of the Nissan with Failure to Yield While Entering a through Highway. No names are being released at this time.
Atlantic Fire and Rescue, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Cass EMS, and Cass County Emergency Management Director Mike Kennon assisted the Atlantic Police Department at the scene.
