(Atlantic) Atlantic Firefighters were called to a roof fire at the Atlantic Middle School at around 12:37 p.m. When they arrived, black smoke was billowing from the roof, and flames could be seen shooting from the roof’s edge.
Cass County Emergency Management Director Mike Kennon says the fire is contained to the roof, and everyone safely exited the building.
Atlantic Schools Superintendent Steve Barber extended his gratitude to the emergency responders for their quick response.
The damage to the building is not yet known; Atlantic Fire Chief Tom Cappel will release more information following his investigation.
