(Atlantic) Atlantic Parks and Recreation Director Bryant Rasmussen says security cameras have been installed at Schildberg Recreation Area.
Rasmussen told the Parks and Recreation Board Monday evening that the waterless restroom has been vandalized many times.
Rasmussen said it got to the point that the Parks and Recreation employees were cleaning up more human waste than what was necessary for them.
Rasmussen said AMU put in a pole, NishnaNet has installed the camera system and Berg Electric was working Monday afternoon on hooking up the electric.
There will be three cameras that will be able to monitor the parking lot, the shelter and who is coming and going from the waterless restroom.
In other news, Rasmussen recognized Talon Gaines for his Eagle Scout project at the Sunnyside Bandshell. Gaines said they got rid of all of the old mulch, edged around the bandshell, added some new dirt and dug some holes to plant some new flowers and added some new mulch. Rasmussen also thanked the Royal Neighbors who put in a butterfly garden at Sunnyside Park; Atlantic Rising who did a pollinator garden and native grass garden at Schildberg Recreation Area; and Trees Forever who, like every year, gets a grant and this year they planted 26 trees.
