(Griswold) On Monday, the Griswold School Board agreed to changes in the mask mandate.
The Board of Education followed Superintendent Dave Henrichs’s recommendations to some changes in the current policy. Henrichs says effective April 5, the mask mandate will remain in effect only during school hours inside the school building and in-district transportation. Masks will not be required during recess outside, P.E. outside, outdoor sports, graduation, and prom.
“The justifications for the change include; only one positive case of COVID-19 since January 1, the majority of the teaching staff who have chosen to receive a vaccination have done so, and the majority of our activities are now held outside, “ explained Henrichs.
The School Board also approved the 2020-2021 budget. The district decreased the income surtax from 9% to 1%, the lowest level a district can achieve. The district increased the management fund from $365,000 to $425,000. The overall levy rate decreased from $14.01 to $13.11. Henrichs says this is positive news for the taxpayers.
