(Des Moines) The National Weather Service in Des Moines is calling for the possibility of storms developing over north-central and northeast Iowa that could become severe this afternoon.
Forecasters say if severe weather occurs, a tornado or two, damaging wind gusts, and small hail is possible. Additional storms may form into central Iowa later this afternoon and mainly be below severe limits. The strongest winds are forecast over central and southern Iowa west of I-35 where gusts may exceed 50-miles per hour.
Extreme fire weather conditions are forecast over southwest Iowa this afternoon.
