(Indianola) Dallas Center-Grimes’ eight three-point baskets sparked the Mustangs to a 60-39 win over Atlantic in a Class 3A Substate Final at Indianola on Monday night.
Bo Huston knocked down six three-point baskets and scored 25 points, and Cole Glasgow added 14-points to lead Dallas Center-Grimes. Skyler Handlos scored 12-points, and Grant Sturm added 12 to lead the Trojans.
Bo Huston shooting 60.7 percent from the field and 49.4-percent from behind the three-point line, buried four three-point shots in the first frame, and the Mustangs galloped out to a 24-15 first-quarter lead. Cole Glasgow joined the party connecting on two-three point buckets. Ethan Williams, Garrett Reynolds, and Skyler Handlos scored four points, and Grant Sturm splashed down a three for Atlantic.
Dallas Center-Grimes heavy dose of long-range buckets slowed to a light dose in the second quarter. The Trojans cut the lead to six points (31-25) midway through the second stanza. The Mustangs extended the lead to 33-25 on Huston’s layup, and nailed his fifth three-point basket with just over two minutes remaining in the half boosting his squad back to a double-digit, 36-25 lead. Jackson Jones closed off the half with a three-point buzzer-beater to push the Mustangs to a 43-27 lead.
The second half was considerably slower than the first two quarters. The Trojans made a run at the lead again in the third frame with three field goals and four-four at the free throw line. The Mustangs mustered just one field goal, a three-point basket by sharpshooter Bo Huston, and Atlantic trailed 48-37.
DCG slowed the tempo to a crawl in the final quarter, holding Atlantic to just two free throws. Meanwhile, the Mustangs closed the game out with 12-points, including 8-10 shooting from the free-throw line and two field goals to close it out 60-39.

Atlantic bowed out with a 14-7 record and won eleven of their final 13 games. Dallas Center-Grimes extend their record to 20-3 and earn a spot next week in the boys’ state basketball tournament.
