(Creston) Four Atlantic/CAM wrestlers advanced to next week’s State Wrestling Tournament.
Ethan Follman (120), Joe Weaver (126), Kadin Stutzman (170), and Tristan Dorscher (285) all punched their ticket to the big show at the district meet at Creston on Saturday afternoon.
In the semifinal round, Follman defeated Austin Evans of Creston by a 7-1 decision. Joe Weaver topped Chase Sandholm of Red Oak by a 12-2 major decision. Stutzman didn’t break a sweat with a 33-second pin over Logan Dickerson of Shenandoah. Dorscher won by a fall in 36 seconds against Clarinda’s Logan Green.
In the finals, Ethan Follman (120) lost to Matthew Beem of Winterset by a 12-5 decision. Follman heads to the State Tournament as a runner-up. Joe Weaver, (126), is making his third trip to the State Tournament. Weaver defeated Jake Porter of Winterset by a 22-7 technical fall. Stutzman (170) won a 10-3 decision over Brady Barringer, of Winterset, in the finals. Stutzman will take a 31-2 record to Des Moines. Dorscher lost by fall to Winterset’s Dugan Tolley in the finals in 3:26 but advanced by rule as the runner-up. (Video interviews with Stutzman, Weaver, and Follman are posted below the results).
