(Atlantic) The Atlantic boys’ basketball team starts a string of five games in eight days tonight when they travel to Denison. Atlantic and Glenwood are the league leaders and the Hawkeye Ten Conference hottest teams. The Trojans have won five straight. Glenwood has six consecutive victories.
Atlantic Head Coach Jeff Ebling says Denison is a different style team than in past years.
In the past, Ebling says that Denison has been senior dominant with name players like Biliew and Wiebers. But this year, it’s an entirely new group of players.
Coach Ebling is talking about Aiden Shuttinga, who is 25-56 from behind the three-point line. The 5’10 junior averages 10.0 points per game and shoots 72.7 percent from the line. Braden Heiden, averaging 14-points per outing, leads the team in scoring, and Evan Turin averages just under 10-points per game.
The Monarchs face a tough Atlantic defense that allowed a stingy 50-points per outing over the past five games.
The tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. We will have the broadcast on 95.7 FM and audio streamed on Westerniowatoday.com.
