(Red Oak) One person was transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle accident in Red Oak this (Tuesday) morning.
The Red Oak Police Department responded to the intersection of N 4th Street and E Maple Street at approximately 6:56 a.m. Upon arrival and investigation, Officers found that Ashlee Young, of Red Oak, was driving a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on N 4th Street and Cassandra McVay, of Red Oak, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound on E Maple Street. McVay failed to yield at the yield sign and to the right-of-way to Young’s vehicle. Young’s Jeep struck McVay’s Malibu in the right rear quarter panel.
McVay was issued a warning for Failure to Obey a Yield Sign.
A juvenile passenger in McVay’s vehicle was taken to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital by Red Oak Rescue for suspected minor injuries.
The estimated damage to Young’s Jeep is $6,000 and a total loss. The estimated damage to McVay’s Malibu is $5,000 and a total loss.
