(Griswold) On Monday, the Griswold School Board voted 6-1 to require full-time remote learners to return back to the classroom in-person by February 15.
Griswold Shared Schools Superintendent Dave Henrichs says the board has discussed the in-person learning requirement for several months. However, the timing wasn’t right until now. “We’ve been talking about this for several months,” said Henrichs. “We believe it’s in everyone’s best interest that our students are in front of our teachers, and relieves our teachers from pulling double-duty when teaching both online and on-site.”
Henrichs says a student can request a medical exemption if he or she or anyone in the same household is in a vulnerable medical situation. The student would need to provide the school with a signed release from a medical professional to qualify for the exemption.
Henrichs currently says the district has five full-time remote learners at the elementary and 22 remote students at the Middle School/High School grade levels.
