(Elk Horn) The Family First Coronavirus Relief Act has been extended by the Exira-EHK School Board.
The board decided to keep the FFCRA in effect through the end of the school year. Superintendent Trevor Miller says, “The federal government’s leave expired December 31st so those policies were rescinded. Our school board decided we are going to extend it as part of our policy through end of the school year. We are not starting over so staff that has already used their ten days don’t get another ten days. It’s just going to stay in effect. We thought it was fair to our staff. For example if I was exposed December 15th I get to use ten days of FFCRA leave, but if I was exposed January 4th now all of a sudden I have to use my own sick leave first. So just for equity we thought it was fair.”
Personnel moves approved at Monday’s meeting included the hire of Emily McDermott as a Long Term English Teacher Substitute and resignations for Librarian Linda Petersen and Bus Driver David Anderson.
