(Glenwood) Mills County continues to experience a significant increase in new COVID-19 cases and an increase in test positivity.
Mills County Public Health says the County is in the Red Zone, which means they are experiencing a high community transmission level. County Health Officials urge Mills County residents and businesses “to act now to get the spread of COVID-19 under control.”
From November 10th to November 17, the County reports 220 new cases of the virus, up 76 cases from last week. This includes 851 new cases as of Tuesday morning; 338 have recovered with a total of 5,391 tests. The 14-day positivity rate stands at 26.3 percent, up four percent from the week before. Two people have died from the virus this past week.
The Glenwood area reports 653 cases since the outbreak began, 48 in the Pacific Junction area, 62 from the Malvern area, 11 from the Mineola area, Silver City area, 19, Henderson area, 10, Emerson area, seven, Council Bluffs,/Mills County area, 11, and nine cases from the Tabor (Mills County) area, with six cases yet to be determined.
The virus in the county has affected 36-percent of the 40-59 age group, 27-percent of the cases occurred in the 19-39 age group, 20-percent in the 60-79-year-old age category, 15-percent from the 0-18 age group, and two-percent in the elderly 80-plus years of age.
