(Adair Co.) The Adair County Sheriff’s Office reports four arrests.
Rex Dean McDermott, 53, of Atlantic, was arrested on November 4th on a warrant for Willful Injury – Bodily Injury. He is being held in the Adair County Jail on $250,000 cash or surety bond.
According to the report; on October 30th at approximately 11:07 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call from a resident located in the 1800 block of Highway 92 near Fontanelle in reference to someone beating on their door saying “help me, help me”. When the Deputy arrived he saw a female on the edge of the road waving her arms. The female was covered in blood and EMS was requested to be sent to the location. After following up with the victim, she stated that Rex had another man they were with pull the truck over and Rex pulled her out of the truck and started punching her in the face and hitting her with a wooden stick or handle of some kind. When the female started yelling for help, Rex got back into the truck and the two men drove away leaving her on the side of the road. The female suffered a laceration above her right eye, bruising and swelling to her face and complained of pains over her body where she had been struck.
Adair County Sheriff Jeff Vandewater said the somewhat standardized bond for a Class “D” Felony, as set by in the Iowa Supreme Court Bond Schedule, is $5,000. However, McDermott’s bond was set by the Magistrate a bit higher.
Gary Alan Victor, 49, of Bridgewater, was arrested November 3rd for OWI 1st Offense. He was held on $1,000 cash or surety bond.
Michael Gail Steward, 38, of Fontanelle, was arrested November 3rd for Contempt – Violation of a No Contact Order. Bond was set at $1,000 cash or surety.
As previously reported: Brooklyn Leon King, 19, of Jamestown, New York, was arrested November 3rd for Eluding and Interference /Injury or Weapon. He was held on $2,000 cash or surety bond.
