(Anita) The undefeated CAM football team strives to make program history this Friday night when they take the field in an 8-player quarterfinal football game against Fremont-Mills, at Tabor. A win places the Cougars in the semi-finals for the first time in school history.
Coach Bower’s team is improving each and every week and is coming off what could be their best performance of the season in their 62-6 win over Lamoni in the third round game last week. The Cougars outscored their first three playoff opponents 65-10.
CAM faces their toughest test of the season to-date against Fremont-Mills. Coach Bower says defending Nebraska recruit Seth Malcom is a high priority. The senior ran rough-shod over Martensdale-St. Mary’s last Friday night with 29 carries for 339 yards and five touchdowns.
Coach Bower is impressed with the Fremont-Mills play-action pass scheme with F-M quarterback Jake Malcom. The junior is 48-83, throwing the ball for 763 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Coach Bower didn’t think many people believed CAM would get this far, considering the depletion of the offensive line to graduation.
Coach Bower says it’s a privilege to be one of the final eight teams left standing.
CAM enters the contest with a (9-0) record. Fremont-Mills is (6-1).
Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. We will have the broadcast on 95.7 FM.
