Kenneth “Kenny” Lee Finnell, 65, of Atlantic, IA passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, IA.
Kenny was born September 26, 1955 in Corning, IA to Kenneth Leroy and Ruth (Burright) Finnell. After the family moved for a time, they settled in Atlantic when Kenny was eight. He attended the remainder of his schooling in Atlantic. He then joined the workforce, working for American Buildings in Atlantic as a welder. Kenny moved to Omaha, NE in 1990 and worked at a janitorial service prior to being employed by Baker Foods for 17 years. He retired in 2017 due to medical reasons. Kenny moved to Atlantic, IA in 2019 to be closer to family. He entered Atlantic Specialty Care on July 17, 2020. Kenny loved playing his guitars and had a natural talent for playing by ear and was an avid fan of Harley Davidson motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Paula (Poulin) Raven, nephew Chadleon Cooper and his significant other, Patty Parish.
He is survived by his children, Suzanne (Rick) Holmes of Griswold, IA; Jody King (Jeff Pelzer) of Atlantic, IA; his grandchildren, Brandon Jacobsen, Kara Jacobsen, Chase Holmes, Mia Holmes, Cole Holaday, Gabrielle Holaday, Allan King and Ashlee King; his great grandchildren, Braylen Jacobsen, Ayden Jacobsen, Isabella Holaday and Arianna Holaday; brothers, Joe (Wendy) Finnell of Atlantic, IA and Don (Luann) Finnell of Atlantic, IA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside services will be Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11:30 AM at the Weirich Cemetery, south of Lyman. Kenny’s family appreciates your many expressions of concern and sympathy. Everyone is invited to join the family for food and fellowship at Zion Lutheran Church, 811 Oak St in Atlantic immediately following the graveside service.
