(Atlantic) Atlantic Head Football Coach Mike McDermott says the focus is on themselves this week in preparation for a trip to Carroll Stadium this Friday night and a match up with Kuemper, Catholic, Carroll. Both teams suffered losses to two ranked 1A teams last Friday night.
Coach McDermott is making a couple of changes to the line-up on offense. Devin McKay returns to a starting role on the offensive line. Colin Mullenix is moving from running back to the receiver position, and Korey Parrott starts at running back and Bodie Johnson will start at fullback.
The Trojans totaled 157 yards of offense in their week one loss to Underwood. McLaren and Andersen traded snaps at quarterback. McLaren finished the night 6/16 for 82 yards, and Andersen was 5/10 for 55 yards. McDermott says igniting the running game is another focus this week. Last week, Underwood held the Trojans to just 20-yards rushing on 30 carries.
Coach McDermott says both teams appear to be evenly matched.
Kuemper quarterback Luke Hicks completed 8/16 passes for 84 yards and rushed for 31-yards on 8 carries last week. Jared Hausman caught one pass for 31-yards. Blake Pottebaum snagged three catches for 23 yards.
Brendan Atkinson knocked out seven tackles, six solos, and three tackles for loss, and Colin Mullenix recorded 8 tackles to help lead the Trojans on defense.
The game starts at 7:00 p.m. We will have the broadcast on 95.7 FM and streamed live on westerniowatoday.com (ks 95.7). The pre-game starts at 6:00 p.m.
