(Guthrie Center) Kimberly Dickey and Bo McGee with NextEra Energy Resources spoke to the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors about the 43 mile Heartland Divide Transmission Line II and Wind Turbine Farm.
Guthrie County Deputy Auditor Danielle Fink said they are in the beginning phase of this project.
Dickey and McGee said they are looking at about 73 turbines that would span across Audubon, Guthrie and Adair counties with approximately 200 megawatts of renewable energy.
Danielle Fink said Supervisor J.D. Kuster asked where NextEra Energy Resources were from, they are based out of Juno Beach Florida, which brought up a conversation about these farms coming in and taking all of the renewable energy sources from the area, but none of this energy goes back to benefit any of the local residents.
In other news, the Supervisors approved the Guthrie County Handbook and in turn the board approved a resolution for
