(Guthrie Center, IA) — The AC/GC Girls Cross Country team were not expected to qualify for the state cross country meet but the Chargers qualified in the 2nd and final position at their regional meet. On Saturday, AC/GC finished 13th out of 16 teams and 8th grader Vivian Crawford just missed the medal stand finishing in 18th place. She says she was cold and a little numb but she liked the course and did start well
Also for the Chargers, Senior Cadence Petersen was 77th; Freshman Camdyn Coffman 86th; Junior Lilli Lauzon 126th; and Senior Brooklyn Schafer was 149th. Even though her last run was not her best, Schafer appreciated the opportunity to be in Fort Dodge
One big memory that Schafer will take on the season was being a mentor to Crawford
There were no other 8th grade girls runners at AC/GC Middle so the only way Crawford could compete was at varsity which was allowed for the first time this fall. Crawford says Schafer was a big reason for her success this year
On the boys side, Preston Kent got on the medal stand for the Chargers in 14th place.
