(Tabor) A teen suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident near Tabor.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened at around 3:45 p.m. on Friday on 115th Street, near 254th Avenue. Authorities say the teen who was not wearing a seatbelt was ejected from the vehicle. A medical helicopter airlifted the 16-year old male driver to Nebraska Medicine for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Three juvenile passengers, wearing seatbelts, received minor injuries.
According to the report, a 2008 Ford F150 pickup driven by the 16-year old and traveling eastbound on 115th Street in the center of the roadway swerved to avoid a westbound vehicle at the crest of a hill. The teen lost control, the truck left the road, entered a field, and rolled multiple times.
Authorities cited the teen for Failure to maintain control. They say speed played a factor.
