(Thurman) A pair of individuals from Missouri face drug charges as the result of a traffic stop on Interstate-29 early Friday morning.
33-year-old Michael Arthur Tyson, of Albany, MO, and 23-year-old Laura Jean King, of Grant City, MO, were both placed under arrest and are being held at the Fremont County Jail awaiting an appearance with a Magistrate. At approximately 3:50 a.m. deputies with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office conducted a stop on a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country for several traffic and equipment violations. K9 Roby indicated and alerted to the presence of controlled substances coming from the vehicle.
A search revealed over five grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, equipment used to distribute and package controlled substances, and $5,000 in suspected drug proceeds. Tyson and King are each charged with Conspiracy to Distribute over 5 grams of Methamphetamine (Class B Felony), Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Tyson is cited for speeding in a construction zone and failure to provide financial liability.
