(Anita) 18-4 CAM is at home Tuesday night against 19-3 Stanton. Tuesday’s game between the Cougars and Vikings will air on KS95.7 FM. The winner advances to the Class 1A District 14 Final to face either #10 Martensdale-St. Marys or Coon Rapids-Bayard.
CAM has won nine consecutive games including a 51-49 decision at Stanton against the Vikings on on January 30th. They led by double figures in the first half before Stanton came firing back after the break. Balanced scoring and strong defense has been the winning formula for the Cougars all season long. They have seven players averaging between 6.5 and 10 points per game. Those players include Connor McKee, Jacob Holste, Ethan Apr, Nathan Hensley, Colby Rich, Ben Tibken, and Lane Spieker. They allow only 48.7 points per game.
Stanton has come out on top in six of their last seven meetings. The Vikings’ three losses this season are by a combined six points. Tyler Peterson leads the team in most stat categories including points (21.9), rebounds (9.5), assists (4.0), and steals (3.9). He’s shooting 61% from the field and 33.3% on 3-pointers. Carter Johnson, Easton Hultman, and Keygan Day provide a strong supporting cast as all three average more than nine points per game.
