(Atlantic) Atlantic Track Coach Jordan Mullen has resigned to take a job as an Assistant Boys and Girls Track Coach at Briar Cliff University.
Mullen accepted the job on Tuesday and broke the news to his Atlantic track team on Wednesday afternoon. Coach Mullen said it was an emotional meeting.
Mullen started out as an Assistant Coach under Alan Jenkins before becoming the Head Boy’s Track Coach in 2019. Under his helm, Coach Mullen’s team won the Hawkeye Ten Conference meet this past spring, qualified in nine events at the state track meet and finished third in the Class 3A team standings. As a result; Mullen was one of three area boy’s Coaches that earned At-Large Coaches of the Year honors.
Mullen says accepting the position at Briar Cliff University is bitter-sweet, but he couldn’t pass up this opportunity.
In high school, Mullen was a seven-time state champion and set Class 3A records in the 110-Meter Hurdles and was a two-time Drake Relays Champion. Jordan went on to star at the University of Iowa where he was a Big Ten Conference 60 Meter Indoor Hurdles Champion and outdoors Conference Champ. He is also competed on the national stage as an NCAA qualifier and earned Honorable-Mention All American honors.
Coach Mullen will be coaching the sprinters and hurdlers at Briar Cliff University.
