(Denison) Harlan Community finishes with four pins in the final five matches to push the Cyclones past Atlantic/CAM 42-30 in a Hawkeye Ten Conference Wrestling dual on Thursday night at Denison. The win places the Cyclones in sole possession of first place in the Conference. The Trojans suffered their first conference loss.
Atlantic/CAM jumped out early with victories in the flyweight matches. Easton O’Brien won by fall, (106), and Aybren Moore, (113), followed up with a 9-3, decision to give the Trojans a 9-0 lead.
Luke Musich, of Harlan, answered with a 14-9 decision at (126), to close the gap to 9-3.
Zachary Olson’s,(126), major decision and Joe Weaver’s, (132), pin over Ethan Lemon put the Trojans on top 19-3.
Harlan countered with three-straight wins. Wyatt Obrecht, (138), won by decision, and Dalton McKinley, (145), and Reece Schwery, (152), posted back-to-back pins to close the gap to 19-18.
Kadin Stutzman, (160), recorded a 17-1 TF, to extend the Trojans lead to 24-18, lead with six matches left on the slate. But Harlan sewed up the match with four straight pins from Carter Bendorf, (170), Thomas Frederick, (182), Nathan Henry, (195), and Jesse Schwery, (220).
Atlantic/CAM’s Cale Roller, won by forfeit at (285), and the scored settled out, 42-30, Harlan Community.
Both Atlantic/CAM defeated Denison-Schleswig, 53-28.
