(Atlantic) Atlantic/CAM swept the competition at the Eddyville-Blakesburg Dual Tournament on Saturday. The Trojans topped Des Moines, East 42-34, Eddyville-Blakesburg, 47-33, Camanche 44-34, Mediapolis, 54-24, and Waukee JV, 54-27. The Trojans pushed their dual record to 13-0.
Atlantic/CAM Head Coach Tim Duff was impressed with the competition.”I thought our pool was very competitive and when you look at the scores they all came down to the last few matches,” said Coach Duff. “Most of those matches were ultimately determined by bonus points and I thought we did a great job of picking up pins on the day.”
The Trojans earned 29-falls in the tournament. Cale Roller, (220), Aybren Moore, (113), and Ethan Follman, (120), went undefeated.
Duff says the Trojans had some outstanding performances. “Cale Roller was dominating during the day, Ethan Follman wrestled extremely well, and Devin McKay looked good at 220, probably the best he’s wrestled all season,” said Duff. “Easton O’Brien wrestled well and Abybren Moore picked up some pins for us.
“We know we still have a lot of growth and development ahead of us, but to win five duals and go to 13-0 is something we didn’t expect as a staff,” Duff said. “Our kids are working hard, and that’s fun to see.”
Atlantic/CAM has a busy schedule lined up this week. Highly ranked Logan-Magnolia comes to Atlantic on Tuesday night, to compete in a quadrangular along with OABCIG and Woodbine. The meet starts at 5:30 p.m.
On Thursday, the Trojans travel to Denison and face the Monarchs and Harlan Community, the only other undefeated dual team in the Hawkeye Ten. And then on Saturday, the Trojans host the Rollin Dyer Tournament. The meet starts at 10:00 a.m. All former wrestlers who competed in the Atlantic program are invited to attend the tournament and be recognized. A social for the former wrestlers and their families will be held following the tournament at Rumors.
