(Johnston) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced today all-time high testing numbers this week with 4,636 individual tests as of Wednesday.
The Governor reported 355 positive tests for a positivity rate of 7.7 percent. She says more than 3,000 Iowans went through the process at TestIowa sites since Monday, and appointments total around 700 today.
Governor Reynolds also announced further testing criteria for TestIowa. Previously, the State expanded testing for all of the essential workforce. Later today, the testing criteria is open to everyone. “This is especially important as more Iowans return to work,” said Reynolds.
Reynolds says the change will be active later today. “These changes are all part of the State moving forward, and gradually we’re beginning to step into life as normal,” stated Governor Reynolds. “Things aren’t exactly the same as they were but it feels familiar and that’s a welcome change. The reality is things will need to be different for awhile. COVID-19 can’t be eliminated, we can’t prevent people from getting it, but it can be managed if we all take personal responsibility and do the right things to protect our health and the health of others.”
