(Audubon, IA) — The Audubon defense smothered Coon Rapids Bayard last Friday 64-6; the Wheelers only allowed 55 yards of total offense and did not allow a first down. On offense, Aaron Olsen had 9 carries for 102 yards and 2 TD; he was the leader out of 299 total rushing yards. Olsen also returned a punt 37 yards for another score.
On defense, Austin Christensen is the team’s leading tackler — the Junior had 5.5 tackles and 2 TFL against the Crusaders but flying under the radar a bit is Senior Cornerback Adam Obrecht. He doesn’t get the attention of other players because he doesn’t play offense but on Friday he had 4.5 tackles and for the season is 2nd on the team in tackles with 25 and has 2 INT. Head Coach Sean Birks says he didn’t get to play last year because of an injury
On offense, Audubon has amassed a total of 1,311 yards rushing and 539 yards passing. It is a fine tuned oiled machine and Birks is glad his offensive line has stayed together and is healthy
There are three games left in the regular season with the Glidden Ralston Wildcats this week. Birks says there are still things to work on, still things to improve and he wants the kids to keep focused on the task ahead this week
5-0 Audubon visits 2-3 Gladden Ralston this Friday.
