(Griswold, IA) — On Friday, Griswold got one of the longest passing TDs this season in 8 man football to help the Tigers earn their first victory of the season 54-44 over Stanton.
Bode Wyman connected with Connor Bowers on a 71 yard TD pass which is the 2nd longest in 8 man games in the state — Laramie Stoaks of Lenox has a 74 yarder this season. Griswold Head Coach Seth Lembke says its a testament to this passing game but the Tigers did a lot of good things on offense
The defense continues to be a work in progress, Lembke says the kids talk so much in class, you’d think they would talk on the football field. One bright spot however has been Sophomore Owen Johnson who leads the team with 8.5 TFLs
This week Griswold will host East Mills and it could be a shootout — the Wolverines throw it more than the Tigers do. Senior QB Caleb Urban has 1429 yards passing with 16 TD and 4 INT. His number one target is Sheldon Vandenburg with 36 catches for 432 yards and 4 TD. Wyman for the Tigers had 842 yards in the air with 10 TDs and 2 INTs. Lembke says they have be disciplined.
3-2 East Mills visits 1-4 Griswold
