(Area) Atlantic and Audubon are among the teams with the richest tradition in girls golf. Atlantic has won six state championships including three in the last six seasons. Audubon has made 14 appearances since 1991 and most notably had a span of eleven times in twelve years. Third place finishes in 1993 and 1994 mark the best Wheeler finishes under current head Paul Lynch. The team set a state record in 1968 when they put forward a score of 361. Harlan has two team state championships in their girls golf trophy case.
Included in today’s History Books post are in depth results from Audubon dating back to 1991 and Atlantic dating back to 2007 with special thanks to Audubon coach Paul Lynch and Atlantic coach Kathy Hobson for sharing their records. Additionally, state tourney results were browsed through from 2007-10 and 2014-19 (years available through the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union website) with information on area qualifiers documented.
