(Ida Grove) Twenty-six teams competed in the two-day Herb Irgens Wrestling Tourney hosted by OABCIG on Friday and Saturday.
Traditional Class 1A power house Don-Bosco was the team champion. The Don’s winning point total of 289 was over 100 points more than runner-up Sergeant Bluff-Luton.
The Audubon Wheelers finished 24th. Luke Mosinski was the lone place winner for the Wheelers. The senior finished 4th at 220 pounds. Mosinski had a bye, a pin, and a 3-0 decision to get to the semifinals. In the semi’s he was upended 11-0 by Easton Fleshman (West Lyon). A consolation semifinal pin over Adam Mohning (Sioux Center) put the defending state qualifier in the 3rd place match against Tanner Hagen (West Hancock). Hagen pinned Mosinski in 1:19. Javyn Bladt (170), Lane Barber (145), and Cooper Nielsen (182) were each 1-2 in head-to-head matches. Kobie Otten (160), and Keegan Deist (138) were each 0-2 in contested matches.
