As one of only two players with significant varsity minutes prior to this season he’s been counted on to help lead a young group. He’s been an efficient offensive presence with percentages of 49% from the field, 35% beyond the arc, and 72.4% at the free-throw line.
Petersen is poised for a big tennis season ahead. He’s already a multi-time state qualifier. Last season he went in as a District Champion and posted a 1-2 record at state with losses to the eventual 3rd and 5th place finishers. Petersen was a key member of Atlantic’s 2018 quad that made the state tournament as a team.
He’s a starter in football and baseball as well. Last summer he posted 11 RBI and his season included a walk off hit in a 6-5 win against Creston.
