(Atlantic) The former Shopko building in Audubon won’t be empty much longer.
The Audubon County Economic Development Office has reached out to Ryan Wager, owner of a popular store in Council Bluffs called It’s $5. Sarah Slater with ACED says, “We’ve offered some incentives and it all came together so he’s going to open It’s $5 hopefully in February and then he’s also going to do another retail business in the other half of the store that will open hopefully in March.”
Slater describes It’s $5 as a liquidation retail store. “The cool thing is every item on Saturday and Sunday is $5, but then as the week goes on you get two for $5 all the way up to 10 for $5 by Friday. Literally it’s like a treasure hunt.”
Wager’s will be the name of the business adjacent to It’s $5. It will offer low price new clothing, health and beauty, and everyday products. ACED officials are elated to welcome a new business to town. “We are now bring back some local jobs and tax revenue. It should be a great draw for people around the area and it’s another place to shop locally.”
The former Shopko building located at 109 N. Market Street has been vacant for approximately one year.
