Republican Chris McGowan has won Iowa’s 4th Congressional District race, defeating Democratic opponent Dave Dawson. This will be his first time serving in elected public office.
McGowan from Souix City is an attorney, Iowa National Guard veteran, and former president of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce and Siouxland Initiative. In Congress, he plans to support Iowa agriculture, expand economic development, strengthen border security, and promote trade opportunities for farmers and businesses.
McGowan will take office on January 3, 2027, and serve a two-year term. He will replace 57-year-old Republican Randy Feenstra, who has represented the district since 2021. Feenstra did not seek House reelection and instead ran unsuccessfully for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.
