(Atlantic) The Atlantic Parks and Recreation Department is challenging the public with a New Year’s Resolution.
Visiting the ten parks that the department maintains can earn you $25 in chamber bucks. All you have to do is take 25 pictures from a list of over 40 items throughout 2020. Director Bryant Rasmussen says the idea came from a DNR magazine his son receives and they adapted it to fit Atlantic. “We started to incorporate everything we have within the parks, because we have more than just the wildlife refuges out at Schildberg’s and East Ridge. We have all these different recreation opportunities and different things that people can do within every single one of our parks.”
For example, take a picture of a wild rose at Schildberg Recreation Area, an Oak Tree at Sunnyside Park, and a cattail at Nishna Park just to name a few. Rasmussen says the list includes items for people of all ages. “We have things from going out and enjoying nature and having picnics and things like that to doing more of the recreation side of things using all of the different recreation tools we have within our shop as well as trying to support some of the local programs.”
At least one picture must be taken at all ten sites that the Atlantic Parks and Rec Department maintains. Pictures are to be posted on the Atlantic Parks and Recreation Facebook page. Picture opportunities include:
