(Oakland, IA) — The playoffs begin for Riverside tonight as they host West Central Valley in a Class 2A, Region 4 Quarterfinal; coverage on KSOM.
The Bulldogs had a first round bye and are the only undefeated volleyball team in the state of Iowa. It was the same last year but Riverside lost in the Regional Finals. This year, Head Coach Brooke Flathers says it is no different, whatever the record is they have to execute on the court
Flathers credits Riverside’s seniors for their leadership — Lilli Reed leads with 298 Kills; Sydney Somers has 263 Kills and Sophia Fenner has 270 Digs. However, Junior Vivian Gross has quietly emerged this year and has 208 Kills and lead with 58 Blocks.
West Central Valley beat Interstate 35 on Monday in three straight sets 17, 23 and 21. The Wildcats are led by Senior Willow Ray with 132 Kills plus Junior Zoey Reicks and Sophomore Lily Clausen each with 91 Kills apiece.
Sydney Somers says they just need to take it one game at a time
#4 ranked and 36-0 Riverside hosts West Central Valley at 7-19; the winner will face either Logan Magnolia or Underwood in the Regional Semifinals. First serve at 7:00 pm on KSOM.
