(Undated) — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and a health expert is weighing in on what to do to reduce risk of getting it. Professor Cheryl Thompson studies cancer risk at the Penn State Cancer Institute and says knowing your family history is important.
Thompson says more women are being diagnosed with breast cancer at younger ages.
She says maintaining a healthy weight, limiting alcohol consumption and exercising regularly will reduce risk of getting breast cancer. About one in eight women in America will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
