(Pottawattamie Co.)The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors signed a proclamation Tuesday designating September as Preparedness Month.
Pottawattamie County Emergency Management Director Doug Reed said the county will mark the month by hosting its sixth annual Preparedness Fair on Thursday, September 17, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pottawattamie County Emergency Operations Center.
The proclamation notes that disasters and emergencies can strike at any time, often without warning, making it vital for individuals, families, businesses and communities to be prepared to respond.
The proclamation emphasizes that emergency preparedness is the responsibility of every county resident and encourages individuals and families to make preparedness a priority.
Pottawattamie County Emergency Management coordinates activities aimed at building and improving the community’s resilience to disasters and encourages households to create a family disaster plan during National Preparedness Month.
The county is urging residents to become better prepared for emergencies and disasters and to attend the 2026 Pottawattamie County Preparedness Fair.
