(Underwood, IA) — Underwood Football has a nasty habit of re-loading their talent each and every year — the Eagles have not been under .500 since 2017 and are coming off an 8-3 season which included two playoff wins and fell short of the Dome falling to West Lyon.
Gone is Garrett Luett so Head Coach Nate Mechaelsen will turn to a Sophomore at Quarterback in Nash Mitchell and he says he is the complete package
Mitchell has talent around him — Senior Charlie Myers and Sophomore River Allen are back at tailback — Allen really emerged late last season. The receiving corps is deep with Senior Kyle Sub (54 receptions for 889 yards) and Junior Hudson Ross (30 catches) leading the way.
The offensive line will need some development — there are two returning guys with experience Charlie Bracker and Rowan Patomson will both play guard — but Mechaelsen is still trying to figure out who the others guys might be
On the defensive side, Ross had 52 tackles, Myers 46 and they are both back. Mechaelsen really likes what Junior Gabe Burns has done on the D Line
Underwood opens their season this Friday with a visit to Harlan
