(Ames, IA) — There may be a new sheriff in town for Iowa St. football but Head Coach Jimmy Rogers is determined that some traditions with the Cyclones will live on. Rogers was asked at Media Day this past week on what kind of things he has carried over from the previous coaching staff. He did not speak to anything specific from Matt Campbell’s reign but he mentioned the Nick Bassett Perseverance Award which was started in 2022
Bassett was a Cyclone superfan who passed away at age 29 after lifelong health struggles. The award goes to players who show a positive spirit, selflessness, and perseverance.
Rogers also made sure his players understand the life and legacy of Jack Trice
Iowa St. opens their season on Saturday, September 5th hosting Southeast Missouri; coverage all season long on KSOM.
