Julie Christina Brandt, the daughter of Raymond H. and Wilma Jean (Merritt) Selders, was born July 19, 1965. She died August 12, 2026, in Omaha, NE, at the age of 61 years and 21 days.
A funeral service for Julie will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 6:00 PM, at the Griswold Central Church of Christ. Visitation with the family will start at 4:30 p.m. at the church and will continue until the time of the service. Interment will be at a later date. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family.
Julie attended school at Griswold, graduating with the class of 1983. She then attended Iowa Western Community College, where she received an associate’s degree in computer science. She moved to Florida for a short time before returning to Griswold. On June 3, 1995, she was united in marriage to Rob Brandt. Julie began working at CDS in Red Oak and worked there until it closed in 2010. In 2014, she became the Administrative Assistant at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold. She also worked part-time at Tiger Mart.
Julie was a member of the Griswold Central Church of Christ in Griswold. She had been an EMT with Griswold Rescue for 31 years. She loved Christmas Music, sewing, playing board games, T.V. shows from the 70s, and musicals. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Julie is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Wilma; her brother James; and her biological mother Melody Burkhead.
She is survived by her husband Rob Brandt of Griswold, IA; her son Robby Brandt and wife Kamber of Griswold, IA; her siblings: Patty (Tim) Elliott, Michael (Tina) Burkhead, James (Chris) Burkead, John (Peggy) Burkhead, and Matthew Burkhead; her sisters-in-law, Sarah Selders and Deb Dickerson, both of Atlantic, IA; her nieces and nephews: Damion, Daniel, Nathan, and Alexz; her honorary daughters, Kasi Amos and Kaylin Archer; her father-in-law Bob Brandt of Griswold, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
