Iowa DOT Asking For Public Input On Future Transportation Improvements

The department says the feedback will help inform its State Transportation Plan, which looks ahead at the next 25-plus years. The survey asks respondents about the most challenging places in the state to drive, what makes transportation the most difficult and which challenges they see could see cropping up in the next few decades. The survey will be available on the DOT’s website until the end of August.

With an average winter temperature in Des Moines of 25 degrees, affordability and low senior poverty rate outweigh the cold. Iowa’s top ranking comes after being number 16 last year.
Hoover Great-Grandchildren To Attend Presidential Library Re-Opening Thursday
(West Branch , IA) — Great-grandchildren of the 31st President of the United States will be on hand to re-dedicate a museum in his honor Thursday. The Hoover Presidential Foundation says Allan Hoover The Third and Margaret Hoover will attend a celebration to mark the completion of the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum’s 20-million dollar renovation. The ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. on the museum’s east lawn in West Branch on Thursday.
Ledges State Park Closing For 1 Month Starting Today
(Boone County, IA) — Ledges State Park in Boone County will be closed for one month starting today. The Iowa DNR says pavement across the entire park will be re-surfaced. Visitors won’t be allowed into the park during the closure, including hiking trails, campgrounds and shelters. The park is expected to re-open on September 1.
Ex-Reality Show Going To Prison On Forgery And Theft Charges In Scott Co
(Scott Co., IA) — A former reality show star is going to prison on forgery and theft charges in Scott County. Latisha Collier was sentenced last week to 15 years for each charge, to be served concurrently. Authorities say, after being denied housing in 2024, Collier applied for a home in LeClaire using a client’s name and personal information to sign the lease. She was part of the reality show “Love After Lockup,” which followed her relationship with her husband.
