(Des Moines) The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is looking ahead to next summer by encouraging people to apply for seasonal fisheries positions as this year’s intern goes back to college.
Each year, the Fisheries Bureau hires employees for three- to six-month jobs involving hatchery work, research, fisheries management, and creel surveys. Fisheries Biologist John Lorenzen says the positions provide hands-on experience and opportunities to work alongside staff and interact with the public.
Lorenzen says the other thing they want the interns to take away from the summer is how to work with the public and team members.
Applications are typically posted in December, and applicants must be at least 18 years old.
