(Bridgewater) Farmers, gardeners and others interested in organic fruit and vegetable production are invited to a free educational field day at Bridgewater Farm in Adair County on Sunday, August 9, from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
The event, hosted by the Iowa Organic Association and Bridgewater Farm, will include a guided tour of the farm’s 40-acre USDA Certified Organic operation. Attendees will learn about producing and marketing more than 40 varieties of organic fruits and vegetables, as well as organic certification, recordkeeping and marketing opportunities.
The Bridgewater Farm team will also discuss its transition to organic production and sales through community-supported agriculture, farmers markets and wholesale partnerships.
Bridgewater Farm has been USDA Certified Organic since 2013. The family-owned farm was established in 1978 by Dale Raasch and is now operated with his son, Tyler.
