(Atlantic) The Southwest Iowa Planning Council is seeking nominations for the second annual Ron Kohn Servant Leadership Award.
The award recognizes an elected official, government employee, or appointed member of a government board or commission who has gone above and beyond in providing leadership and service to a community in Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, or Shelby County.
The award honors the late Ron Kohn, a former SWIPCO Policy Council member, Mills County Supervisor, and Glenwood mayor who was known for his commitment to public service and mentoring future leaders.
The inaugural winner was Glenwood Police Chief Eric Johansen. Chief Johansen received the award during SWIPCO’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and Meeting on September 25, 2025.
Nominations can be submitted through the SWIPCO website. The deadline is August 25, 2026. All nominees will be recognized, and the winner will be announced at SWIPCO’s annual meeting on September 24 in Atlantic.
