(Thurman) The Friends of Blackburn State Park will host a One with Nature Series on Saturday, August 1, with a Birding and Prairie Plant Ramble at the park, located at 1291 Cemetery Road, northeast of Thurman.
The program begins at 10 a.m. and will last approximately 90 minutes.
Participants will be led by Nic Salick, development officer with The Nature Conservancy and a bird enthusiast, and Lance Brisbois, director of Golden Hills RC&D and a dedicated land steward. The pair will guide attendees through the varied terrain of Blackburn State Park, identifying prairie plants and birds by sight and sound while sharing their knowledge of the area’s natural resources.
The program will also highlight the importance of preserving the Loess Hills and offer tips for future birding excursions.
The event is free to attend through donations made by members of the Friends of Blackburn State Park. Those attending are welcome to make tax-deductible donations to support instructor fees, class supplies and future programming.
