(Guthrie Co.) The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office responded to two rollover accidents over the past week.
On Monday, June 22, at approximately 12:47 p.m., 30-year-old Johnny Lawrence, of Perry, was driving a 2024 Western Star semi and tanker westbound on 315th Street, between Sycamore and Ross Avenue. For unknown reasons, the semi left the roadway, entered the north ditch, and overturned onto its passenger side. No injuries were reported. Lawrence was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
On Sunday, June 28, at approximately 2:00 a.m., 18-year-old Siri Barlow, of Waukee, was driving a 2023 Chevrolet Blazer north on Wagon Road. At the Morrisburg Church left-hand curve, Barlow drove straight off the road and continued in the grass to follow the curve of the road. The Blazer struck and broke a Guthrie County owned curve indicator sign and struck and destroyed a mailbox belonging to the homeowner of 2692 Wagon Road. Barlow then over corrected, driving across the road over a strip of piled gravel being used for shoulder repair of Wagon Road. The vehicle then rolled onto its top in the west ditch. This section of Wagon Road was closed to thru-traffic for road maintenance. No injuries were reported. Barlow was cited for Failure to Maintain Control and Striking Fixtures Upon Highway.
