(Cass County) Multiple fire departments and emergency agencies responded to a large shop fire in southern Cass County on Wednesday afternoon.
The call was dispatched at 4:46 p.m. for a fire at 58708 Yankton Road, south of Griswold near the Montgomery County line. Thick black smoke billowed from the structure and its contents as it burned, visible for miles.
Griswold Fire Chief J.C. Wyman says when they arrived on scene an approximately 80×80 foot shop was fully engulfed in flames.
Chief Wyman says the building is still standing; however, it is completely destroyed as well of the vehicles inside, and outside the building.
Wyman says the employees evacuated safely, and there were no injuries to firefighters.
The Griswold Fire Department was assisted by departments from Lewis, Cumberland, Red Oak, Stanton, Villisca, Elliott, Grant, along with Cass County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Kennon, and Cass EMS.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
