(Guthrie Center, IA) — Things are looking up for the Chargers’ baseball squad, taking two conference wins earlier this week against West Central Valley and Woodward-Granger as they look to end the regular season on a high note.
ACGC prides themselves on their defense and pitching and it was shown on both Monday and Tuesday, keeping the Wildcats to just three hits and the Hawks to three runs. Head Coach Nick McCool says it’s been a focus for the team this season:
The Chargers’ bullpen is led by senior ace Blaize Dorsey, who totes a 3.98 ERA. McCool has also relied on some younger arms in relief with freshman Bryce Benda getting a handful of appearances this season, and junior Colton Clark who is finding his way back in the rotation after dealing with injury. ACGC will now set their sights on a conference foe in the Cardinals, who have a 4-20 record and a young core led by Konner Keller who bats at a .260 clip and 13 hits. McCool says their record is misleading:
